International Cargo Centre Shenzhen Import Cold Storage Phase II Goes into Operation, Thero New Materials' Phase Change Energy Storage Technology Helps Reduce Carbon and Cut Costs

已更新:2024年3月20日

On July 19, the Shenzhen Airport ceremoniously launched the second phase of its newly renovated international cargo import cold storage, hosted by the International Cargo Centre Shenzhen (ICCS). This initiative, showcasing the latest phase change energy storage technology developed by Thero New Materials, signifies a comprehensive upgrade in Shenzhen Airport's cold chain cargo assurance capabilities.

In response to the new dual-carbon requirements and the global trend toward carbon taxes and carbon footprint, ICCS, particularly areas 209-210, has implemented the distributed phase change energy storage system independently developed by Thero New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. This innovative system, which uses Thero's 5-degree and -18-degree phase change materials, offers temperature security for cold storage, aiming for energy-saving, power-saving, and carbon reduction goals, thereby assisting businesses in cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

During the launch ceremony, Chloris Yang, Chairwoman of Thero New Materials, explained the operational principle of the system: it activates refrigeration units at night when electricity rates are lower, storing the cool energy within the Thero phase change energy storage system. During the day, when electricity costs are higher, the refrigeration units halt, and the stored cool energy is released, maintaining stable temperatures within the cold storage without daytime operation. This strategic operation shifts electricity usage from peak daytime hours to off-peak night hours, balancing urban electrical grid loads and smoothing peaks and valleys. The phase change energy-saving system modules used by Thero can save over 10 tons of carbon emissions throughout their lifecycle for every 20kg of material.

Measured data indicates that the adoption of Thero's distributed energy storage system in areas 209-210 of ICCS's refrigerated and frozen storage has achieved energy savings of over 20%. Moreover, with the implementation of peak-valley electricity pricing pol
